I founded Whakapapa Threads from a desire to create clothing that carries more than just a design, it carries meaning. Every piece is inspired by whakapapa, identity and the stories that connect us to those who came before us. Each piece carries our whakapapa and pūrākau, keeping our connection to Te Ao Māori alive through every garment.
About Us
Whakapapa Threads is a pakihi Māori grounded in whakapapa, identity, and connection. Our kaupapa is to honour the stories, knowledge, and taonga passed down from our tūpuna, weaving them into contemporary streetwear that carries meaning beyond the garment itself.
Each piece is designed to tell a story connecting the past, present, and future while allowing our people to wear their identity with pride. Through design, we create space for culture, creativity, and expression to live in the everyday.
